อุทยานแห่งชาติห้วยน้ำดัง

อุทยานแห่งชาติห้วยน้ำดัง ตั้งอยู่บนเทือกเขาถนนธงชัย มีพื้นที่ครอบคลุมอยู่ในท้องที่อำเภอแม่แตง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ และอำเภอปายจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน รวมเนื้อที่ทั้งหมดประมาณ 179.5 ตารางกิโลเมตร หรือ 112,187.5 ไร่ ลักษณะภูมิประเทศเป็นเทือกเขาและภูเขาสูงสลับซับซ้อน ภูเขาที่สูงที่สุด คือ ดอยช้าง เป็นป่าต้นน้ำลำธาร มีลำห้วยน้อยใหญ่มากมาย ฤดูหนาวอากาศเย็น ลมแรง มีฝนตกชุกในเดือนพฤษภาคม-ตุลาคม ฤดูร้อนอากาศเย็นสบาย อุณหภูมิสูงสุดประมาณ 34 องศาเซลเซียส สถานที่ที่มีผู้นิยมมาท่องเที่ยว ได้แก่

    จุดชมวิวบริเวณห้วยน้ำดัง (ดอยกิ่วลม) ตำบลกึ๊ดช้าง อำเภอแม่แตง อยู่บริเวณที่ทำการอุทยาน เป็นจุดชมวิวที่สวยงามและมีชื่อเสียงมาก มองเห็นดอยเชียงดาว คอยชมพระอาทิตย์ขึ้นและชมทะเลหมอกในช่วงเช้าตรู่ได้ และในช่วงปลายฤดูหนาวดอกไม้กำลังบานสวยงามมาก

     หมอกที่เกิดที่นี่คือ หมอกที่เกิดขึ้นในหุบเขา (Radiation Fog) เนื่องจากเวลากลางคืนในหุบเขาอุณหภูมิจะลดต่ำลง ทำให้เกิดการกลั่นตัวเป็นละอองน้ำ และปรากฏเป็นทะเลหมอกในเวลาเช้าหรือหลังฝนตก

     ใกล้ ๆ กับที่ทำการจะมี เส้นทางศึกษาธรรมชาติเอื้องเงิน มีระยะทาง 1,470 เมตร ความลาดชันปานกลาง ใช้เวลาในการเดินประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง

    การเดินทาง ไปยังอุทยานฯ จากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่ไปตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 107 สายเชียงใหม่-ฝาง ระยะทางประมาณ 37 กิโลเมตร ถึงตลาดแม่มาลัย อ.แม่แตง แล้วเลี้ยวซ้ายไปตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 1095 สายเชียงใหม่-ปาย อีกประมาณ 65 กิโลเมตร ถึงด่านตรวจอุทยานฯ ซึ่งอยู่ด้านขวามือเข้าไปอีก 6 กิโลเมตร ถึงที่ทำการอุทยานฯ และหากเดินทางต่อไปอีก 1 กิโลเมตร ถึงศูนย์บริการนักท่องเที่ยว หรือเดินทางโดยรถประจำทางจากสถานีขนส่งเชียงใหม่ สายเชียงใหม่-ปาย อัตราค่าโดยสาร 40 บาท/คน ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมง
