วนอุทยานน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสี อยู่ในท้องที่หมู่ที่ 8 ตำบลแม่หอพระ อำเภอแม่แตง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ อยู่ในเขตป่าสงวนแห่งชาติป่าแม่แตง มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 9,375 ไร่ กรมป่าไม้ได้ประกาศจัดตั้งพื้นที่ เมื่อวันที่ 10 กันยายน 2537
ลักษณะภูมิประเทศ
ลักษณะภูมิประเทศ บริเวณน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสี มีสภาพป่าสมบูรณ์และร่มรื่น มีต้นไม้ขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นอยู่หนาแน่นเป็นป่าดิบชื้นและป่าเบญจพรรณ ลักษณะทั่วไปเป็นพื้นที่ราบและหุบเขาคล้ายกับกะทะใกล้กับน้ำตก มีจุดชมวิวที่สวยงามและมีส่วนหนึ่งเป็นพื้นที่ราบสามารถจัดตั้งเป็นแคมป์ไฟ หรือ ลานจอดรถ สำหรับนักท่องเที่ยวได้เป็นอย่างดี
พันธุ์ไม้และสัตว์ป่า
พันธุ์ไม้ที่พบในพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นไม้ขนาดโตและเป็นไม้ที่มีค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ ได้แก่ ไม้สัก แดง ตะแบก ตีนนก เต็ง รัง เหียง พลวง ประดู่ มะค่า ตะเคียน ส้าน ยอป่า กะบก ไม้พื้นล่างจะเป็นจำพวก เฟิร์น ว่าน กล้วยไม้ดิน และเถาวัลย์ชนิดต่าง ๆ ที่ขึ้นอยู่ตามลำธารและน้ำตก
สัตว์ป่าที่พบเห็นในปัจจุบันมีสัตว์ป่าขนาดเล็ก เช่น กระต่ายป่า ไก่ป่า กระรอก กระแต จิ้งเหลน แย้ กิ้งก่า พังพอน ตุ่น งู นกกระปูด นกกระจิบจุดดำ นกกางเขนบ้าน เป็นต้น

ทางวนอุทยานน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสีไม่มีบ้านพักบริการแก่นักท่องเที่ยว หากนักท่องเที่ยวต้องการไปพักผ่อนหรือไปพักแรม โปรดนำเต็นท์ไปกางเอง ส่วนเรื่องอาหารขอให้เตรียมไป แล้วไปติดต่อขออนุญาตกับเจ้าหน้าที่วนอุทยานน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสีโดยตรง

แหล่งท่องเที่ยว
• น้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสี เป็นน้ำตกที่สวยงามตามธรรมชาติมี 3 ชั้น มีน้ำไหลเป็นลักษณะพิเศษเป็นธารหินปูน ต้นน้ำเกิดจากน้ำพุเจ็ดสี ซึ่งอยู่ห่างออกไปทางด้านทิศตะวันออกประมาณ 200 เมตร น้ำตกมีความสูงประมาณ 100 เมตร มีความลาดชันประมาณ 50 องศา ลดหลั่นกันลงมา น้ำไสเป็นประกายมองผ่านจะมีสีเหมือนรุ้งกินน้ำ
การเดินทาง
รถยนต์ การเดินทางไปวนอุทยานน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ด ตามถนนสายเชียงใหม่ - อำเภอพร้าว ตรงหลักกิโลเมตรที่ 48 - 49 ก็จะมีทางแยกขวามือเข้าไปวนอุทยาน ฯ อีกประมาณ 2.6 กิโลเมตร ก็จะมีทางเลี้ยวขวาเข้าวนอุทยานน้ำตกบัวตองและน้ำพุเจ็ดสี
